For this multi-generational family photo shoot, we headed out to Sandy Beach and the scenic Lanai Lookout in Oahu. It was the perfect day for taking photos with mostly sunny skies. For large families like this (more than four), I suggest booking at least a 90-minute session to ensure that we get plenty of variety, and I can highlight all of the different personalities and couples.
A Day at Sandy Beach & Lanai Lookout
This shoot is a great example for most of my large-family sessions. First, we did a few photos of the whole group. I always make sure to get a few formal, portrait-style images for display or sharing with others. From there, we break out into smaller groups and different combinations with lots of candid photos mixed in. I always strive to capture a snapshot of your family’s story so you have memoirs to look back on for the rest of your lives.
The family of three is so sweet. Hyuni is a reputable dentist in the area, and it sure shows in their glowing white smiles! They looked amazing. Their little girl is so kind and a pleasure to be around. She also loved having her picture taken and had fun trying out different poses. It seems the camera loved her back! I really like the photos of her being silly and loving on her parents—she obviously adores them, and she’s the center of their whole world.
I enjoyed meeting his parents, too! Unlike some grandparents, these two love having their pictures taken as they travel around. It’s apparent that they are more in love than ever, and they’re extremely photogenic. It was so special to see both couples, the younger and older generations, walking along the beach together hand-in-hand. The legacy of the grandparents’ love has been passed down through their family. I felt honored to be able to capture these moments for them.
