These two lovebirds decided to skip the huge wedding on the mainland and instead say their vows with their toes in the sand with a Tropical Elopement at Kualoa Ranch! I love when couples contact me about documenting their elopements. Destination weddings have a different vibe than more traditional ones. The thrill of traveling to a gorgeous location…sharing your day with only your very closest friends and family, and being surrounded by Mother Nature’s most beautiful features sometimes lessens the stress for couples who want a more intimate wedding that truly fits their style.
A Laid Back Kind of Love
James and Jessica were such a fun and energetic couple. I had a wonderful photographing them. They embraced the laid-back way of island life immediately. And I think this elopement was everything they were hoping for.
Because of the long-distance communication for coordinating an elopement—as much as you might want to, it’s not easy to just hop on a plane to Hawaii for a day to check out some vendors. Sometimes couples don’t end up with the ceremony they had envisioned. Maybe the florist skimped on your favorite flower, or the photographer only took ten images of the entire thing. I don’t want this to happen to you. So I put together a vendor list of some people I love and know will do a fantastic job.
For this elegant elopement, Moana Events planned and designed the flawless ceremony. Passion Roots, one of my favorite florists in Hawaii, did a wonderful job on the flowers. Meanwhile, I strive to capture a balance of pictures from the big day so that couples can look back on them and relive the best days of their lives! I like to give couples some great candid shots so they can remember how they looked and felt in the moment, but then I also make sure to include artistic, portrait-style photos that they can display in the house or enlarge to showcase (for example, the picture of James and Jessica kissing across the field with the some of the best views of Kualoa Ranch in the background).
Congratulations, James and Jessica! I wish you many more glorious sunsets together!
What a stunning day it was for a wedding! Witnessing Jessica and James’ Tropical Elopement at Kualoa Ranch was an absolute honor.
