This shoot captured the essence of romance. Lance and Caroline stepped away from the rest of the world to soak in the moment as a recently engaged couple. They gazed into each other’s eyes as the white waves rolled across the backdrop, blending into the deep blue water. The billowing cream-colored clouds and slate-gray rocks lent themselves to the serene backdrop. As their Hawaii Engagement Photographer, I wanted to give them some time and space to really enjoy their engagement—it’s so easy to get caught up in all the planning and counting down until Wedding Day that couples often try to rush this short phase. I know that they’ll love having photos to remember this special time right before they became husband and wife.
An Engagement Session at Makapuu Lookout
Makapuu Lookout in Waimanolo is known for its sprawling view of the Pacific Ocean—one of the most picturesque locations on Oahu. We found a secluded area to take some gorgeous, intimate shots. You know how much I love the ocean, but the photos of Caroline perched on the trunk of an old, woody tree with the overhanging cliffs in the backdrop look stunning. I love the sheer, white-laced dress that Caroline chose for the shoot—definitely very bridal and elegant. They looked like a couple from a magazine as he tilted her back for a kiss. These two were so sweet and very easy to shoot.
Their wedding day is fast-approaching, and I can’t wait to see them tie the knot in November. They’re exchanging vows and celebrating with their friends and family at Halekulani, a luxurious hotel with amazing views of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach—it will certainly be a day to remember! See you in a couple of weeks, friends!
Capturing this session as a Hawaii Engagement Photographer was an absolute honor. Sandy toes, sweet kisses, and salty sea air. How beautiful!
